Patient Choice
Patient Choice* is a Department of Health policy to give you more choice about where and when you are treated. Under the choice initiative, a number of milestone targets were set and achieved to help deliver greater choice.
The Choose and Book system will allow patients who require a referral, the choice of at least 4-5 hospitals and the opportunity to choose the time, date and place for the treatment. The selection of providers might include different NHS hospitals, diagnosis and treatment centres, or specialists and independent hospitals, such as Nuffield Hospitals.
Our local hospitals have been working with local healthcare authorities (Primary Care Trusts) to ensure that you are offered Nuffield Hospitals as an alternative provider, to help enable your treatment to be undertaken sooner. This process is usually facilitated by the local healthcare authority, therefore the referral process, specialties available and choice available may vary.
